The Family Table is a collection of 47 heirloom recipes from the archives of the Arinhal Karuvantevalappil family. The cuisine of the Malabar region of north Kerala is diverse and unique with its rich local produce and seafood, with recipes ranging across sweet and savoury, vegetarian and non-vegetarian. In addition, the book is divided into three sections— breakfast, lunch & dinner, and desserts and snacks.
Recipes include:
Kayi Beragiyathe— caramelised plantain (nendra pazham) with eggs, Muringa Chappe Varthathu— a moringa leaf stir-fry and Chattipathiri— a famous layered pastry indigenous to the Malabar region.
Updates about the making of The Family Table coming soon on the Qitaab Blog.
